Remembering for a Change |

Christmas is a great time for giving.
But often it seems like a whole lot more wanting than giving. And
with the economy still riding out a storm and questionable consumer
confidence—perhaps it’s a really good time to reflect
on just how much has already been given to us by God and the difference
we can make for others by realizing our own enormous blessings.
And from a biblical perspective, generosity is never tied to the
economy.

There are two things that are true
about every human being: 1) We were created for a relationship with
God, and 2) We were created for friendships with others. To be in
loving relationships is what it means to be created in the image
of God—and what it means to be human. In this series we’ll
see how those two defining characteristics are connected.

What did we ever do without cell phones?
And now they’re everywhere. They’re embedded in our
culture. Along with other social networking tools, they’re
how we stay in touch. But there’s another technology for staying
in touch that’s been around for centuries. It’s God’s
Spirit and God’s word. It’s how we stay connected to
God. It’s how we grow in our spiritual maturity and formation.
It’s how we become more like Jesus. And best of all, it’s
wireless and the minutes are free. Find out more in this three part
series.

So what’s your story? Did you
know you’re writing one right now? You write a few pages every
day…by the choices you make…and with the people you
meet. And guess what? God is writing an even bigger story…a
never-ending story…and your story is supposed to be a part
of it. The best stories are not about living for ourselves—but
living to serve others. It’s not about the life you own. It’s
about your life on loan.

If you’ve been around Tri-County
Church for very long you know how important our Six G’s are—they
are our core values: grace, growth, groups, gifts, give, and go.
But “G” doesn’t always stand for something GOOD.
That’s why we’ll be taking a closer look at some G’s
that you need to stay away from.

There’s a reason that many people
ignore or reject God. It’s not the only reason—but it’s
a significant one: They’re rejecting a definition of God that
isn’t accurate. How can anyone make a good decision about
living a life for God unless you’re basing it on what God
is really like? And so, we’ll be tackling four common misconceptions
about the character of God. So that at least you’ll be able
to make an informed decision.

Every day we hear a lot about what’s
wrong with the world—and there certainly is plenty of that.
But what about taking some time to reflect on what’s right
with the world. These seven messages will explore the manifest presence
of God in the simple joys and wonders of life. This is the series
that runs from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day (which will
include our annual Church in the Park on June 14).

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is
THE defining moment in human history. The dying and rising of Jesus
establishes our victory over death and secures our promise of eternal
life. But there’s more to Easter than an empty tomb and a
home in heaven. Jesus didn’t just come to take away our sin
and give us everlasting life… HE CAME TO WAKE US UP! Come
find out what this life-changing awakening is all about. It all
begins on Easter!

One could argue that of all the things
said in the Bible, that the things Jesus said are the most important.
And of all the things Jesus said in the Bible, the most important
of those is this: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
So if you’re looking for direction, something to believe in,
and how to experience life to the fullest—don’t miss
these three messages.

If you’ve ever thought your parents
favored one of your siblings then you can relate to the story of
Joseph. He was his father’s favorite—and in his early
days he milked it for all it’s worth. But Joseph’s overconfidence
would catch up with him. And fortunately for him, God used an unusually
difficult chain of events to mold him into a man of faith and integrity.
He’s not so different than us—and his life has much
to teach us.

Who can forget those times tables and
flash cards from grade school? You knew you really arrived in the
math world when you advanced from addition to multiplication. Did
you know the same thing is true of spiritual growth and our mission
in life? God’s plan for reaching the world with his great
love is based on multiplying and not just adding. He wants to reproduce
his character in us—and in turn we reproduce his character
in others. It’s what making disciples is all about. It’s
what it means to be the church. So brush up on your nine’s
tables… we’re going to MULTIPLY!
